| Oct. 19 - One of Sara's
kids, Mr Fritz, earned his American Champion title. Sara is a dog we
bred back in 2001 and her mom is Abby. This is Sara's 3rd champion
offspring.
Oct. 18 Milo
completed his CARO Rally Advanced title with high enough scores to be able
to add "cum laude" to his title (RACL). Congratulations!
Sept 27 It
took two years to the month for Chrissie Diron and Shandy to find a CARO
(Cdn Assoc. of Rally Obedience) trial on Vancouver Is. and they were
finally able to complete Shandy's Rally Advanced
title. Well done! And Miska and Nova each competed in one day
of rally trials in the Finger Lakes circuit in Romulus, NY. Each
earned 1 RAE leg. That was Miska's first and Nova's 8th; Nova needs
2 more RAE legs to finish her title. Thank goodness we didn't enter
Sunday's trials because it was pouring with rain in the morning (outdoor
trial).
Sept. 6-7 My dogs had a
great weekend at AKC hunt tests at Darien, NY. Nova finished her Jr.
Hunter (AKC) title on Saturday, followed by her 2 kids completing their titles
on Sunday: Miska and Vadasz. These
titles represent a total of 161 titles on our dogs. And, it was Miska's
14th title, Nova's 11th title, and Vadasz' 9th to date. Way to go everybody!
Sept. 5, 2008 At the Tuxedo
Park Kennel Club at North Branch, NJ, Katya came
so close to earning her badly needed major but ended up instead taking
Reserve Winners after winning the Open class with an entry of 19 class
bitches under Judge Dr. R. D. Smith.
August 22 - Our 1995 litter celebrates its 13th
birthday! Happy Birthday to Bob, Jester and Winston, the three dogs
remaining from this breeding.
August 10 Tyro
finished his Championship title at the Kilbride Kennel Club show in Milton,
ON under Judge Oscar Valverde-Calvo of Costa Rica. Tyro is the
7th dog from this litter of eight to earn a Champion title. Proud parents
are Nova (CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation
Am/Can CD, Am/Can RA, FDJ, Am RE, CGN) and Hudson (Am/Can/International CH Kizmar
Touch of Evil JH RA).
July 19, 2008 Milo earned his first CKC
Intermediate agility leg with a perfect 100! Plus, he was the only
dog in the entire trial to qualify!
June 16 4: PM - 2
boys and 1 girl so far. 2:30 PM. It's
a BOY! First whelp of six puppies was just born to Miska. By 5:50
PM, Miska had delivered four boys and two girls. Click on our

June 15 Miska's
temperature has dropped a degree. Will it stay down? Will she
be whelping puppies in the next 24 hours? Stay tuned!
June 8 Shandy (CH Varazs Artemis Vizsandy CD,
AGN, AGI, RN (CARO) was successful in earning her Canine Good Citizen title.
June 7 At the Vizsla Club of N. California's specialty show, Sara (Am CH
Varazs Sara's Full of Grace MH) won her sweepstake's class as a veteran
and was #1 in the Brood Bitch class. And at the same shows/trials,
her littermate, Gryphon (Am & Int'l CH Varazs Gryphon's Magical Mist
JH CD RA) earned his first Rally Excellent leg.
June is BIRTHDAY MONTH at Varazs
Vizslas! We have several of our dogs and litters celebrating
birthdays this month. Our Nekah-Mickey litter was born June 5 1999;
our Tasha-Charlie litter is 6 on Friday the 13th; our Nova-Hudson litter
turns 2 on June 17 and our Nova-Sasha litter turns 5 on June 26. In
our household, Nova turned 9 on June 5, Chili and Tyro are 2 on June 17
and Miska is 5 on June 26. And, of course, Miska is expecting
another litter of puppies around June 17. Happy Birthday to
everyone!
May 31-June 1 At
the German Shorthair Pointer Club of Western NY, Nova
and two of her sons, Vadasz and Chili ran in hunt
tests at Darien NY. Chili didn't pass but both Nova and Vadasz earned 2 legs towards their Jr Hunter titles and
with very good scores. Nova just needs 1 more Q to finish her JH
title. If Miska wasn't so pregnant, I would have run
her! We raced back to Ontario after competing in NY to run Chili
at the Vizsla Society of Ontario's field tests where he earned a 3rd leg for his Field Dog Jr. title. This is the
first time a dog of mine has competed in two different countries on the
same day!
May 25 Shandy
earned her first CKC
rally novice leg.
May 23 Miska
was ultrasounded and she is very pregnant!! We were a little late
for the ultrasound because we were on vacation so it was impossible to get
a definitive count but we were told she's likely carrying up to 9 puppies!
Yikes!
May 24 Chili
(from our 2006 breeding of Hudson & Nova) earned 2 qualifying scores
towards his Cdn Field Dog Jr. title.
May 18 - Rec'd the results of Miska's
elbow s-rays and they are Normal.
May 17, 2008 Despite bad
weather (cold, rainy, gusty winds) at the Kitchener-Waterloo agility
trials, Milo earned his final
CKC Agility Novice leg and AGN title with a score of 95/100 and second
place finish for his 5th agility title and 9th title!!! Huge
congratulations to owner/trainer/handler Corrine Sellars! What a
great team.
April 25 Both Miska
and Nova completed their CKC Rally
Advanced titles at the St. Catharines & District trials, earning 97
and 94/100 respectively. This is Miska's 13th title prior to the age
of 5! And, Tyro and Chili
earned their first CKC Rally Novice legs with scores of 96 and 94
respectively.
April 18 - 20 At the
Guelph & District dog show on Friday, April 18, Nika went Winner's
Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex under Judge Betty McHugh
(Canada) for 3 pts while Tyro was
Winners Dog for 2 pts. On Saturday, Nika also went Winners Bitch and Best
of Opposite Sex for 2 pts under Irish judge. A. Ingram to finish her Canadian Championship!
On Sunday, Tyro was Reserve Winners Dog under Judge Miguel Angel Martinez
of Argentina. .
April 15 Miska (Am/Can
CH Varazs Kiralyi Kedvesem FDJ, FD, NAVHDA NA Prize
III, Am/Can CD, Am/Can RN, Am RA, Am RE, CGN) has
come into season, 7.5 months ahead of schedule and has been bred! We
are expecting puppies in June. Please visit our Puppies page for
information about the stud dog and pedigree and an application form.
Reservations are being taken now for a summer litter with puppies
expecting to be ready to go mid-August.
April 5-6. Corrine and Milo
(Varazs Mokany Ficko with plenty of titles) competed in their first
Canine Performance Events (CPE) agility trials just for fun and
motivation. In doing so, they walked away with a new title - CL1-R -
which is the Standard title level 1 plus 1 leg towards their CL1-H
(Handler level) and CL1-F (fun level). In total over 2 days of
trials, they earned 5 Q's, 7 first places finishes and their legs and a
title. Now I don't know anything about CPE but this sounds pretty
darn good to me! Well done. Plus Corrine was extremely pleased with Milo's
increased motivation and drive as they have been working very hard on
relationship building the last few months.
Mar. 9 - At Sunday's
morning Kitchener-Waterloo KC trials, Nova
(CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation FDJ, Am/Can CD, Am RE, CKC RN, CGN) scored 92 and
her daughter, Miska,
scored a 98 in Advanced. In the afternoon, I screwed up and missed a sign
while competing with Nova, thereby denying her the completion of her
Advanced title. Rats! But, I learned from that mistake, and Miska sailed
through the Advanced course, scoring another 100 for her 2nd Advanced
leg. This is Miska's 3rd perfect score of 100.
March 8 At the
Kitchener-Waterloo KC trials, Nova earned her first CKC Advanced Rally leg
with a score of 94 and Miska completed her CKC Rally Novice title with her
2nd perfect score of 100 (Miska's scores were 98, 100 and 100 in Novice
B). This is Miska's 11th title before the age of
5.
February 21 Turning
7 is our litter born in 2001. Happy Birthday to Sara, Gryphon, Sly, Rozsa,
and Toby!
February 16-17 At the
Hamilton Dog Obedience trials, Miska earned her
Cdn Companion Dog (CD) title in 3 straight trials, her 11th title. She
also earned 2 legs towards her Cdn Rally Novice title, with scores of 98
and 100, placing first in her class in the latter trial. Nova
completed her final leg for her Cdn Rally Novice title with a score of
98. All in all, a good weekend!
Feb. 22 At the Ontario Breeders
Assoc. dog show, Tyro picked up 2
points under Judge Fred Gordon.
February 2 Happy
10th Birthday to our 3rd litter born in 1998! It was a very small
litter but celebrating this decade milestone are Amber, Bartok, and
Otis.
January 22 Today
we mourn the loss of our dearly beloved Sasha in
his sixteenth year. It will be difficult to imagine life and our
house without him after having him for so long. He is terribly
missed, especially by Sylvia to whom he was the closest. Sylvia was
his trainer, handler and very best friend.
January 20 - Gryphon
and Elizabeth complete Gryphoh's AKC Rally Advanced title!
January 11 - 13 We
had a very good "family" weekend at the Nickel Belt cluster in
Hamburg, NY. Nova earned 2 more RAE (rally)
legs bring her up to 8. Daughter Miska finished
her Rally Excellent title and took 1st place on her final leg; this is her
10th title at age 4.5 yr. Daughter Katya
finished her Rally Advanced title and son Chili
took Reserve Winners Dog 2 days of the circuit and then Winners Dog and
Best of Winners on Jan. 13 to earn his first American point. (Miska &
Katya are also daughters of our Sasha.)
Jan. 6/08 We are so
thrilled to announce that Sasha has been awarded the 2007 Tibor Reiter
trophy by the Vizsla Society of Ontario. What a great way to start off the
year - along with his 15th birthday!!!!!! This perpetual trophy honours
one Vizsla per year that has earned the highest number of points from
titles earned in 3 or more areas: conformation, field and other
(obedience, rally, tracking, agility, etc.). With 14 titles to his
name, Sasha is very deserving of this award. Thank you VSO!
