Keira has lovely movement (fabulous reach and drive
and moves straight), gorgeous colour, dark eyes, and a very pretty head with a lively
personality. She is a natural backer in the
field and is turning out to be a fabulous working dog in obedience and agility, exhibiting
a tremendous desire to please just like her mom, Nekah, a Vizsla I just
adored. Plus, she's an incredibly happy dog with her tail
wagging all the time!
Keira's got tremendous attitude and
personality oozing out of her pores. In
fact, we say "she's more Nekah than Nekah!". Her
attitude is very fun loving and highly energized. She wags her entire
backside rather than just her tail. When she was little, I noticed
that she and her sister wagged with their tails pointing down. They did this
because they were wagging their tails so fast! To have their tails up and wagging would have resulted in far
fewer wags per minute. Because of her waggy bum, we nicknamed her
"waggy-bumski". Now, she's affectionately called "Keira
Bumski".
Keira loves to greet me with something
in her mouth. With her mouth full, she can't kiss me so instead, she
and I rub noses! When I say, "nose" now, she'll rub my nose.

Keira is my first fully-trained
"clicker" dog.
Clicker training is fun, very easy to learn and results in a
"thinking" dog. I started off by clicking and giving her a treat
every time she licked my face instead of biting it when she was an 8-week
old puppy. This quickly lessened her tendency to bite which all
puppies do. Then, I started reinforcing her stretch when she came
out of her crate. After adding a signal, this has turned into a
"bow" command which Keira just loves to do. After
receiving a ribbon in the obedience ring, Keira bows to the crowd and
judge which always gets smiles from the crowds.
Keira is training and competing in agility
now as well as obedience. She has become my first agility titled dog.
She is so much better at it than I am but I am learning too. A Utility title is her (my) goal for 2004
as well as to complete 3 agility titles and now (May 2004), she has
accomplished one of those goals - her first agility title - Agility Novice
(CKC)..
